paste ARG1

Patrick Dupre
Hello,

This works
plot "< paste F0016CH2.csv | awk '!/^\#/ { print $2 }' "
But this does not work
plot "< paste . ARG1 | awk '!/^\#/ { print $2 }' "
neither
plot "< paste @ARG1 | awk '!/^\#/ { print $2 }' "

Can I get your help?

Thank

Macro expansion does not occur inside either single or double quotes.

I am not suggesting that you use backquotes. They are for something else.
I am just trying to explain why it does not work to use @FILE or @ARG1
inside ordinary quotes.
Try splitting this into two stages.  First construct the string to be
executed.

   commandstring = "< paste" . ARG1 . "| awk '!/^\#/ { print $2 }' "

Confirm that this did what you wanted

   print commandstring

Then use it in a plot command.

   plot commandstring
